Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
- the “News” section (if applicable) has informative images that do not have good alternative text. As such, users of assistive technologies may not have access to information conveyed in these images. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.1.1 – non-text context.
- the “Library” or “Publications” section contains PDF documents that are not fully accessible to screen reader software. These include the absence or insufficient alternative descriptions for images and graphs. Non-HTML documents published on or after 23 September 2018 must have an accessible format.
- the interactive map in the “Members” section requires multi-point gestures for the pan feature. This was added to improve the accessibility of the page when viewed on a mobile or tablet device. As there is not a single-point gesture alternative for panning the map, this fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.5.1 – point gestures.
